World No. 1 Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson at No. 2 and 2008 Masters Champion Trevor Immelman are the latest top-ranked players to commit to play in the Championship now just a few days away.
They join a host of other world ranked players including Sergio Garcia (No.3), Padraig Harrington (No.6), 2005 champion Vijay Singh (No.8), Camilo Villegas (No.10), Robert Karlsson (No.11), Steve Stricker (No.12), 2008 champion Anthony Kim (No.13) and 2006 champion Jim Furyk (No.14), who will all be competing on the manicured course prepared almost exclusively with Jacobsen equipment.
Just look at the Jacobsen involvement. Vollie Carr, our Tournament/Product Support Manager and Gary Kuhl, Mobile Marketing Representative along with our tournament support vehicle have been at the course for the past week providing valuable
assistance to Course Superintendent Jeff Kent and his team. They will be there 24/7 for the tournament to ensure that everything runs just as it should.
Every area on the course will be manicured using Jacobsen equipment: Greens King 518s will cut the greens, with Eclipse 126s mowing the greens surrounds; Eclipse 122s will manicure the tees while the super light SLF-1880 fairway mowers with 8-blade reels and machine grooved rollers will ensure that every fairway is presented to immaculate perfection. G-Plex IIIs will define the fairways; TR3s are being used for the first cut of the rough with a combination of AR3s and AR522s in the main areas of rough. Add to this a fleet of Cushman utility vehicles and you can bet that Jacobsen has it covered.
Commenting on the Jacobsen involvement in such a high profile championship, Dan Wilkinson, President of the Charlotte-based turf equipment manufacturer said, “The Quail Hollow Championship, previously known as the Wachovia Championship, is a tremendous opportunity for us at Jacobsen to showcase our product range. A majority of the world’s top golfing stars, including Tiger Woods, will be playing on surfaces prepared by our equipment. That’s high quality, reliable equipment made here in Charlotte, by a team of genuinely enthusiast local people who can be justifiably proud of the job they do and the equipment they produce.”
