November 01, 2009

Jacobsen’s diversity team partnered with First Tee® of Charlotte and hosted 20 children ages 10 to 17 for a day full of learning and fun at their manufacturing facility on Wilmar Boulevard. The events of the day consisted of plant tours, career learning sessions with different departments, and a putting contest with prizes. The children saw first hand how products come to life using 3-D product design engineering software, the water jet in the model shop, which cuts steel with water and makes various parts, the manufacturing process and final product demonstrations.

Jacobsen’s commitment to the environment is demonstrated by their recent ISO 14001 accreditation, the international standard for environmental management. This is a voluntary company standard that helps an organization to effectively manage its impact on the environment. Employee participation and commitment to the effort of keeping the company as clean and green as possible is crucial, and the team at Jacobsen headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., is fully supportive of the project.

Jacobsen’s Brad Adamson, vice president, integrated supply chain, stated, “This is the perfect opportunity to partner with a local community organization to show children, whom are already interested in the game of golf, that there are many career path opportunities awaiting them across the golf industry. The company’s diversity council wanted to make sure the children had a fun learning experience and I think we definitely achieved this goal.”
