Jacobsen HF-15 Cutting Roughs in Japan

Jacobsen's quality stands the test of time

June 01, 2009

Tomei Country Club, located in Shizuoka, Japan, has a timeless beauty, thanks in part to Mount Fuji and Jacobsen. For the last 24 years, two HF-15s have been fixtures on the course. These HF-15s are still a valuable model in their fleet and still used to cut the rough. Jacobsen is a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company.

Jacobsen HF-15
Still hard at work at Tomei Country Club

Located in the hilly area at the foot of Mount Fuji, Tomei is well known in Japan for its beautiful views. The club boasts three courses, Ashitaka (par 36), Susono (par 36) and Momozono (par 34) rating from 67.7 to 71.8. This top tier club has a long history with hosting professional tournaments. It is a former venue of a PGA Golf Digest tournament and currently hosts the Stanley Ladies JLPGA tournament annually in July.

In the 1980s the HF-15 was the first fairway mower available with hydraulic driven reels renown for its quality of cut and high productivity. While these mowers are over two decades old, the club is not stuck in the past.

Recently they have purchased a new Jacobsen LF-3800 fairway mower and a Greens King IV riding greens mower from Mikuni Shoko Company, the authorized Jacobsen distributor in Japan. Quality of cut and reliable product performance made it an easy decision for Tomei to purchase their new equipment from Jacobsen. Check back with us in 2033 (24 years from now) and see how the mowers are performing.
