New Jacobsen DuraTines Stronger, More Durable for Better Aeration

Jacobsen, a Textron Inc (NYSE: TXT) company, announces a new line of stronger, more durable precision tines for its Greensaire® series of aerators. The new premium DuraTine™ XL and ultra premium DuraTine XLT have a performance-enhanced surface that improves the lifespan and the hole-quality of the tines through better abrasion resistance, strength and overall toughness.

"The DuraTines were created with one goal in mind -- to outlast and outperform other tines on the market, allowing superintendents to have a product that is more productive and less disruptive to turf," said Britton Harold, Jacobsen product manager of parts and accessories. "The DuraTines are made of special steel alloys and are manufactured to extremely strict tolerances to ensure the best possible performance in the field."
Independent tests confirm that Jacobsen's new DuraTines outlast competitive equivalents by up to 75 percent. A new, three-step heat treatment process gives the DuraTine XL and XLT a consistently harder surface skin, resulting in longer sidewall life with less breakage. Both are made of 4130 and 4140 hardened steel and feature a corrosion resistant trivalent coating to prevent rust and wear.
"The DuraTine XL has a harder, more durable tip for improved soil penetration, and the DuraTine XLT is made with a specialized carbide tip, giving it the longest life of any tine on the market," Harold said.
"All of the raw steel that goes into these tines is thoroughly inspected prior to the manufacturing process by metal experts, and after each individual order is made, the tines are sampled and inspected again to ensure that each product meets the level of quality Jacobsen aerators are known for," he added. The DuraTine XL is available as a solid tine and as a top-eject or side-eject hollow tine.
The DuraTine XLT is available only as a hollow, side-eject model. Available in a variety of sizes to fit any aeration situation, the new DuraTines from Jacobsen can now be ordered to fit any Greensaire aerator. More DuraTines will be available in April.
