Successful Sales Training for Jacobsen's Northwest Dealerships



Minnesota resort plays host to Jacobsen University dealer training event

Jacobsen, a Textron Inc (NYSE: TXT) company based in Charlotte, N.C., and one of the leading turf equipment manufacturers, recently brought together the sales teams from dealers across the northwest United States and Canada for a two-day sales training program held at the Madden’s on Gull Lake resort near Brainerd, Minn.

The training was facilitated by Erik Sides, Jacobsen University’s training manager assisted by Gene Klinkman, one of the company’s product support managers and Les King, northwest territory sales manager.

The two-day event consisted of a mix of classroom sessions and role play followed by hands on application and riding or driving selected machines. Competitor machines were also on hand for comparative testing and evaluation against Jacobsen products.

Peter Whurr, Jacobsen’s vice president, product support, commented, “We usually hold our training sessions in Charlotte, but our Dealer Council requested that we change our approach and take the training out into the territories. We have sourced various venues around the country and this was the first event to be held using the new format. We were delighted

with the attendance and the overall support and feedback from the participating dealers.”

Mike Simon, of Kansas Golf and Turf, added, “This was a great opportunity to promote best practice and the two days together were very beneficial. We were able to work in small groups and we had plenty of hands on time, which really helps to cement the information learned in the classroom.”

“We were able to demonstrate Jacobsen’s new riding greens mower, the Eclipse 322; we had both versions – the fully electric machine and the hybrid with its diesel engine and electric traction and reel drive,” Simon continued.

“The location was excellent and Erik Sides and his team did a great job!” he said.
